Sharing Practice; Open Approaches to Teaching and Learning took place on 21st June 2012. The aim of the day was to raise awarenenss of open educational resources (OER) and begin conversations about supporting the adoption and embedding of OER within the university.

The morning Keynote was given by Steve Stapleton from the University of Nottingham. Steve is the Open Learning Support Officer at The University of Nottingham and Project Manager of ‘Open Nottingham’ and talked about Nottingham’s strategic approaches designed to foster increased use, reuse and publication of Open Educational Resources (OER) by staff and students across the university.

The afternoon keynote was given by Paul Andrews, Head of Newport University’s Centre for Digitally Enhanced Learning (CDEL) who showcased free digital tools for creating learning resources

Pam Locker, Principal Teacher Fellow from the School of Architecture, presented on Pencils and Pixels, and open resource designed to teach students drawing and rendering. The Pencils and Pixels videos can beviewed here

Jose Gonzales Rodriguez, Reader with the School of Life Sicences,  presented Chemistry FM, a complete first year chemistry module available online which uses video and animation produced by students on the course. Chemistry FM can be accessed here.
